Database Specialist :
Database Security & Remediation: - Review database scan results using Tenable.io (TIO) and collaborate with System DBAs to address vulnerabilities and ensure hardening.
- Assist in database log onboarding to the organization’s SIEM tool and ensure that security patching is applied successfully.
POA&M Management: - Collaborate with the POA&M Management Support Team to review artifacts for the closure of POA&M items related to database weaknesses.
- Track and validate false positives and known deviations in scan results to ensure compliance with security baselines.
Improvement & Collaborative Development: - Contribute to process improvements related to vulnerability remediation, patch efforts, and database management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable solutions.
Mentorship & Leadership: - Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members while contributing to continuous learning within the organization.
- Articulate complex database-related issues and remediation strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement: - Work closely with federal partners to understand their needs and ensure database security solutions are aligned with their mission requirements.

Requirements: Technical Expertise: - Proficient in database administration, especially with Oracle databases.
- Knowledge of Postgres, SQL Server, and mySQL.
- Experience using Tenable.io, Nexus IQ Server, Splunk Enterprise, JIRA/Confluence.
Analytical Mindset: - Ability to dissect complex database security issues and develop practical solutions.
- Strong understanding of NIST SP 800-53 and other federal security frameworks.
Leadership Abilities: - Experience leading projects or teams.
- Ability to foster professional growth among team members.
Effective Communication: - Exceptional interpersonal skills to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Commitment to Mission: - Deep understanding of federal government operations and desire to contribute nationally.
Education: - Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience: - Minimum 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, specifically with Oracle databases in a federal government environment.
- Experience with other databases (Postgres, SQL Server, mySQL) preferred.
- Experience using Tenable.io.
- Familiarity with NIST SP 800-53, CIS Benchmarks, security frameworks.
- Experience with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) clients is a plus.
Additional Requirements: - U.S. Citizenship required.
- Eligible for a Public Trust security clearance.
- Background investigation required.
Certification Requirements: - Relevant database certifications such as Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional, Certified PostgreSQL Database Administrator, or similar.
