Responsibilities

The George Washington University Hospital (GW Hospital) continues to be a leader in providing the highest level of quality and compassionate healthcare for the D.C. Region. Summary:

Coordinates the daily functional operation of the laboratory's Client Services. Ensures staff effectively responds to customer's needs. Performs specimen collection, specimen processing, and administrative tasks associated with clinical assessment of patients. Oversees special tasks performed by lab technicians. Services as liaison to house staff, patient care services, medical students, physicians, etc. to ensure quality patient care.

Qualifications

Education/Qualification
● High school diploma or equivalent
● Two years of laboratory experience including blood drawing and processing
● One year of supervisory experience preferred

Skills
● Proficiency in venipuncture and capillary puncture, including geriatric and neonates populations
● Strong customer service skills
● Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
● Ability to adapt to changing priorities
● Able to set priorities and resolve problems
● Understanding of proper patient identification methods
Knowledge of legal requirements about drawing blood, handling fluid samples and use of relevant medical
equipment and material
● Computer and data entry skills
● Attention to detail
Ability to connect with various types of patients (such as children, elderly, pregnant women) and make them
feel comfortable
● Familiar with infection control policies and procedures
