Description Staff Accountant- Brookfield, WI Old Republic Surety Company is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated
Staff Accountant to join our team in Brookfield, WI. As a
Staff Accountant , you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial and regulatory reporting processes. Under the guidance of the Accounting Manager - Financial & Statistical Reporting, the
Staff Accountant will contribute to management decision-making needs by providing timely and precise reinsurance accounting and bond-related information.
The
Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining daily and monthly system processes, including data entry, generating and balancing reports, processing disbursement entries, and investigating and updating transactions. The
Staff Accountant will also prepare and file necessary reports to ensure compliance and operational efficiency. Additionally, the
Staff Accountant will manage the reinsurance system and associated Excel spreadsheets, ensuring reinsurance contracts align with established structures and worksheets. This includes handling monthly transactions such as filings, payments, invoicing, and recovery invoice distribution.
Another key responsibility of the
Staff Accountant is reconciling general ledger accounts, ensuring the accuracy of monthly monetary transactions, and maintaining an up-to-date quarterly financial statement tie-out spreadsheet. The
Staff Accountant will assist with audit requests and various financial and accounting projects as needed. Moreover, the
Staff Accountant will support the company’s adherence to the current Sarbanes-Oxley Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) framework by maintaining COSO 2013 documentation.
The ideal
Staff Accountant will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, with at least one year of relevant experience. A strong combination of education and experience will also be considered. The successful
Staff Accountant will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work within a structured and deadline-driven environment.
